The "Argo" star's son, Samuel, may have a limited vocabulary — after all, he's only 18 months old — but he made quite a statement over the weekend wearing a Batman T-shirt.
The show of support took place during the family's routine Sunday outing to a Los Angeles farmers market. The toddler meandered around alongside his mother, Jennifer Garner, and big sisters Violet, 7, and Seraphina, 4, wearing a light blue shirt featuring the Caped Crusader.
However, the cute kid seemed oblivious to any kind of a statement he was making, focusing on more important things like, ya know, walking.
When it was announced in late August that the "Daredevil" alum would again slide into tights to play the Dark Knight in Zack Snyder's highly anticipated "Man of Steel" sequel, the response — especially on social media — wasn't exactly celebratory. Since then, several of Affleck's intimates — including his wife of eight years — have spoken out on his behalf.
"You know, I was excited for him. I was excited because he had a real take on what he wanted to do," Garner told MTV News at the Toronto International Film Festival, adding, "I have to say, my husband is a pretty great storyteller himself, and I'm excited to watch him do it."
Affleck's pal Matt Damon has his back, too.
"You know, he's not playing King Lear," the "Elysium" star, who collaborated with Affleck on "Good Will Hunting," told The Times of India. "It's Batman, certainly within his skill set. If anybody saw 'Argo' or 'The Town,' and all the work he's been doing lately, it's way more nuanced and interesting and way more difficult than Batman!"
And Warner Bros CEO Kevin Tsujihara is in Affleck's corner, too, going so far as to call him "perfect" for the role in the flick, which will bring together Batman and Superman (played by Henry Cavill) for the first time on the big screen. "We think it's going to be huge," he predicted to The Hollywood Reporter.
A casting decision that would perhaps receive more backlash than Affleck would be if Justin Bieber joined the production. Over the weekend the 19-year-old, who is a self-proclaimed Batman fanatic, tweeted a photo of a purported "Batman vs. Superman" script that had his name watermarked across it alongside the caption, "#Robin." However, it is thought to be part of a gag for comedy site Funny or Die.
What's no laughing matter is Affleck's prep for the role. He reportedly already started working out for a two hours day to get primed for the Batsuit. And that doesn't include all the time he spends with little Samuel in his arms.
