There was a very touching scene in New York today as Melissa Rivers said ‘goodbye’ to her mom Joan Rivers for the final time.
The comic icon’s body was removed from her Manhattan apartment and taken to a crematorium in New Jersey ahead of her funeral service on Sunday.
Melissa Rivers watched as six pallbearers carried the coffin out of the family’s upper East Side funeral home to a waiting hearse.
A New York Post camera shot Melissa and her son Cooper walking to the back of the vehicle before Melissa gently kissed the coffin.
The comic legend died on September 4, 2014, after suffering a cardiac arrest during vocal cord surgery that took place on August 28.
Her funeral is expected to take place at Temple Emmanu El a Jewish Reform synagogue — which is located just three blocks north from her apartment on 62nd Street.
