Rihanna’s new song “Towards the Sun” from her upcoming children’s movie Home premiered on Tuesday. Listen below!
Rihanna lends her voice to one of the lead roles in the animated movie from DreamWorks Animation and 20th Century Fox. The singer plays Tip (real name: Gratuity), a young girl who finds herself left behind when the Boov, an alien race, relocate to Earth and capture all the humans. She ends up becoming friends with Oh, a quirky but banished alien outcast, and together they go on “the roadtrip of a lifetime” as they learn what “home” really means.
Tip is portrayed by Rihanna, while Jim Parsons voices Oh. Steve Martin brings to life Captain Smek, the leader of the Boov, and Jennifer Lopez does voiceover as Tip’s mother. A preview of the movie, based on the book The True Meaning of Smekday, was released last June. Watch theHome trailer here. The film is slated to be released in theaters in 3D on March 27.
In addition to Rihanna’s “Towards the Sun,” the Home soundtrack is expected to also include music from Lopez. Rihanna reportedly curated the record herself, creating a concept album that matches the film. “Towards the Sun” is the first single. Listen and check out the song’s cover art below!
