Iggy Azalea’s postponed tour has nothing to do with her personal life or allegedly demanding ways, despite a new tabloid report. Even though the rapper has already said she’s moving her Great Escape Tour back to mid-September because of production delays, Us Weekly claims the “real reason” is Azalea’s “diva behavior.” Extreme Entertainment can bust this story.
The magazine claims Azalea was putting her relationship ahead of work and wanted to spend her evenings courtside at boyfriend Nick Young’s Los Angeles Lakers basketball games instead of preparing for her tour. “She insisted on putting her personal schedule and vacations with Nick above tour dates,” a so-called source tells Us Weekly. “There were a few dates where she basically said she wouldn’t show up.”
Us Weekly quotes the “source” as saying of Azalea, “No one can tell her what to do.” But as Extreme Entertainment previously reported, the real reason the “Fancy” rapper postponed her tour was to ensure a good experience for fans, having realized that the production timetable she’d originally promised just would not work.
“I want people to come and really feel they got their money’s worth,” Azalea recently told the radio show “Michelle & Booker.” The rapper explained that it takes almost six months to build a custom stage, and she didn’t have enough time to get everything completed the way she wanted. “So I really considered what do I want to do — keep and honor those dates for my fans, but [not have] the show I envisioned and kind of promised them… or do I want to move it and have the absolute best show,” said Azalea, adding, “I chose to move it.”
