Kristen Stewart has nothing but praise for Woody Allen in a new interview about their film project.
As Extreme Entertainment has reported, Stewart is one of the stars in Allen’s latest film, alongside Jesse Eisenberg and other celebrities, including Blake Lively and Steve Carell. No title has been announced yet, and Allen famously tries to keep plot details under wraps. But now Stewart is revealing a drop of what fans can expect.
“I’ve never played anyone like this. She’s quite buoyant and exemplifies lightness,” Stewart tells The Hollywood Reporter. As Extreme Entertainment has noted, the actress has been photographed wearing 1950s-era clothing as she shoots scenes with Eisenberg. Their characters seem to be romantically involved, at least based on set snapshots of the co-stars kissing.
Of Allen, Stewart initially says the famed director is “exactly what you expect him to be,” before giving some specific compliments. “Woody’s an interesting guy. He’s gentle, which I didn’t necessarily expect because he’s quite dom-like and can be sarcastic, but he’s so cut-and-dried, too. He minces no words,” she tells the outlet.
Stewart further expresses surprise at Allen’s selecting her for the role, explaining, “People usually cast me to be the silent, quiet type.” Which is not to say, however, that she feels typecast. Rather, Stewart is just ending up with roles she readily identifies with in some way.
“I’m not a character actor at all. If I were to play a murderous villain, I would justify why they murdered people. I would be like, ‘Well you know what? They had a terrible upbringing.’ I would have to understand them,” she explains. “I can never disagree with people that I play, which some time could be a problem; it could limit me, but I don’t think so. I think it just might make me better at what I choose.”
