Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are not arguing about making a sequel to Good Will Hunting, despite a new tabloid report.Extreme Entertainment can exclusively correct this rumor. We’re told the story is “entirely fabricated.”
According to Life & Style, Damon wants to make a follow-up to the movie that launched his and Affleck’s careers, and for which the duo won an Oscar for Best Screenplay, but Affleck isn’t interested. A so-called “source” tells the tabloid, “Matt’s itching to play Will Hunting again. But Ben flatly told him it’s a bad idea. He thinks it would be like trying to makeCasablanca 2 — you just can’t top the original.”
The “source” goes on to claim that the longtime friends “had a real screaming match” over their sequel disagreement. The tabloid even creates a fake plotline for the supposed Good Will Hunting 2, in which Damon’s character would now be struggling with drug addiction, and Affleck’s character would have cancer. Uh, Life & Style shouldn’t get into the screenplay writing business anytime soon.
Regardless, Extreme Entertainment is exclusively told that Damon and Affleck are not arguing about a sequel to Good Will Hunting, because there are absolutely no plans for one. Both Damon and Affleck are hard at work on many different projects, both separately and together, but Good Will Hunting 2 is not among their lineup.
