Chris Brown scored a legal victory against Nia Guzman, the mother of his 2-year-old daughter Royalty, Extreme Entertainment has learned. Guzman had sought to alter Brown’s visitation and access to Royalty, arguing that his time with the little girl should be limited and monitored because of his lifestyle, which she alleged includes drugs, late-night parties, and gang members. But, on Tuesday, a judge sided with the singer.
Guzman, with whom Brown has a somewhat contentious relationship, was also looking to have her child support increased from $2,500 to more than $15,000 a month, but the judge struck down that request, too. At the end of the day, after all of Guzman’s legal wrangling, nothing was ultimately changed to the current agreement. Both Brown and Royalty’s mother share joint legal and physical custody, which allows the singer 12 days a month with his daughter. In addition to child support, Brown also pays Royalty’s health insurance, nanny, and education.
This isn’t the first time Guzman has tried to modify or restrict Brown’s access. In August 2015, as Extreme Entertainment reported, Guzman similarly filed papers to have Royalty’s visits supervised, claiming Brown has substance abuse issues. And while he tested positive back then for marijuana and codeine, it wasn’t an issue because Brown has legal prescriptions for both drugs.
Last week, more tensions flared up between Brown and Guzman after she posted a photo on Instagram of the little girl in a tutu. Brown took issue with the outfit, having felt Royalty’s pose and the camera’s angle were too provocative for a child.
