Ivanka Trump is being sued for allegedly stealing a shoe design from a competitor. See comparison photos below.
In a new lawsuit, the Italian shoe brand Aquazzura claims a stiletto the Ivanka Trump Collection calls “Hettie” is a knock-off of its own “Wild Thing” high heel. Both pumps are red and feature a fringe pom-pom by the toes, with a tassel hanging from the ankle strap. The company also argues that the pump’s shape is too similar as well.
And, what’s more, Aquazzura alleges this isn’t the first time Trump’s brand has copied their designs. The legal documents name several other shoe styles that it claims are the same, just with different names, according to The Fashion Law, which first reported on the filing. It’s not clear how much the Italian company is seeking in damages.
Interestingly, the suit comes more than a year after Trump’s shoe line was the focus of a “Celebrity Apprentice” episode. As Extreme Entertainment reported in January 2015, the star contestants were asked to create a mobile boutique for the businesswoman’s glam footwear. That entailed putting quite a number of shoes on display.
Like her famous father Donald Trump, who is the presumptive Republican nominee for president, Trump has created a lofty empire for herself. Her name is attached to not just shoes, but also jewelry and clothing, as well as a lifestyle site for “women who work.” And though she welcomed her third child less than three months ago, she’s already returned to the campaign trail for her dad.
