Adele made headlines earlier this week when she dedicated her Madison Square Garden concert to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, but the singer revealed during her Thursday night show that she was joking. Adele explained she doesn’t care at all about the couple’s divorce, and then went on to slam the media for its constant coverage of the Brangelina split. Watch the video below.
Adele told an audience in New York City on Tuesday night, “I’m dedicating this show tonight to [Pitt and Jolie] because honestly I’m really, really sad… It’s the end of an era.” Many outlets subsequently published stories about the singer being devastated over the breakup, but she later insisted that’s not the case. “I think it’s a bit sick you’re reporting on an absolute joke,” Adele clarified to the crowd at the same venue on Thursday night. “I don’t care if they’ve broken up. I couldn’t give a f**king sh*t.”
The singer added, “They’re making it out like I was heartbroken… I don’t care. I don’t know them… Break up if it doesn’t work out, that’s what I always do.” Adele continued, “I wish them both the best, but I don’t care. And to be honest, I don’t think they really care about what all you lot say.” She also admonished journalists for repeatedly reporting about Pitt and Jolie’s breakup, saying, “It’s ridiculous. With what’s going on in the world, and that’s front page news. It’s sick.”
As for the misunderstanding about her actually being upset, the singer acknowledged, “I try and tell a lot of jokes and maybe my delivery is not always spot-on.
