Grace VanderWaal performed “I Don’t Know My Name” on Wednesday’s “America’s Got Talent” finale. Check out the video below!
As Extreme Entertainment has reported, VanderWaal has been the favorite to win season 11 of the NBC competition since her audition. That’s when she first performed the original song “I Don’t Know My Name,” and won Howie Mandel’s Golden Buzzer. But music mogul Simon Cowell also championed the 12-year-old throughout, as did judges Mel B and Heidi Klum.
And unlike the other remaining singers in the competition (Linkin Bridge, Sal Valentinetti, Laura Bretan and Brian Justin Crum), VanderWaal performed original songs each and every time she took the stage. In addition to racking up millions of views on YouTube, she’s also inspired strangers to cover her. Not surprisingly, the tween has earned comparisons to Taylor Swift.
VanderWaal had the honor of closing Tuesday’s finals, for which she sang the self-penned “Clay.” Of course she received a standing ovation, and Mandel even declared afterward, “Grace has to win. This is my favorite moment of the night.” And, as he has before, Cowell predicted we’ll be looking back on VanderWaal’s run on the show in the years to come.
But for the foreseeable future, she’s now taken the “AGT” stage for the last time. Watch below!
