Mike Wallace has died.
The legendary CBS newsman passed away at 93 in New Canaan, Connecticut on Saturday.
The “60 Minutes” vet’s death was announced on CBS by Sunday morning anchor Charles Osgood.
Wallace won 21 Emmy awards and five Peabody awards, among many more accolades.
Morely Safer recalled that his colleague “took to heart the old reporter’s pledge to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable. He characterized himself as ‘nosy and insistent.’”
Wallace himself always said he wanted to be remembered as “tough but fair.”
