Pieces of charred tree bark, allegedly stolen from the scene of Paul Walker’s fatal car crash, were put up for sale on eBay before the thief reportedly had a change of heart.
According to TMZ, an anonymous seller posted six pieces of fire-damaged bark from the site of Walker’s death last weekend, asking for at least $100 apiece.
When the scavenger got hate messages for trying to capitalize on the tragedy, he reportedly took down the auction.
“I would like to apologize to the family, friends, and fans of Paul Walker,” he’s quoted as telling TMZ. “At the time I listed the bark for sale, I did not realize the emotional impact it would have.”
Wow.
Earlier this week, a teenager was arrested for allegedly stealing Porsche wreckage from the site.
