Joan Rivers said she wanted a “huge showbiz affair” for her funeral, and she got it on Sunday at Temple Emanu-El in New York, where more than 40 stars said goodbye to the legendary comedian.
Among those stars who paid tribute to Rivers were Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne, Kathy Griffin, Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump, Joy Behar, Rosie O’Donnell, Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters, Diane Sawyer, Kathie Lee Gifford,Hoda Kotb, Geraldo Rivera, Andy Cohen, “Judge Judy” [Sheindlin], Dr. [Mehmet] Oz, Clive Davis, Nick Jonas, Kyle Maclachlan, Mario Cantone, Bernadette Peters, Alan Cumming,Paul Shaffer, Barry Diller, Wanda Sykes, Jeffrey Ross, Robin Quivers, designers Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Hererra, and Michael Kors, and many, many more notables.
Broadway legend Audra McDonald sang “Smile,” while tributes were delivered by Melissa Rivers, Deborah Norville, columnist Cindy Adams and others.
Rivers’ eulogy was given by none other than Howard Stern.
And in addition to several other musical performances, Hugh Jackman ended the memorial in song before bagpipers from the New York Police Department played as mourners left the synagogue.
