Bill Cosby received two standing ovations at his performance in Florida on Friday, continuing to receive support from comedy show audiences even as more and more women make rape allegations against him. Watch video from Cosby’s latest performance below.
The comedy icon has continued to take the stage this week, performing in the Bahamas and in Melbourne, Florida, although several of his upcoming tour dates have been canceled amid the controversy over old and new sexual assault accusations.
As Extreme Entertainment reported, on Friday, Cosby released a new statement through his lawyerMartin Singer. Cosby’s camp blasts his accusers’ “unsubstantiated, fantastical stories,” claiming the allegations have “escalated far past the point of absurdity.”
Singer argues, “These brand new claims about alleged decades-old events are becoming increasingly ridiculous, and it is completely illogical that so many people would have said nothing, done nothing, and made no reports to law enforcement or asserted civil claims if they thought they had been assaulted over a span of so many years… It is long past time for this media vilification of Mr. Cosby to stop” The audience in Florida seemed to agree, cheering Cosby’s comedy and standing to applaud.
