Oscars “In Memoriam” 2015 VIDEO: Watch Jennifer Hudson Sing Tribute to Stars Who Died

The 2015 Oscars included a touching “In Memoriam” segment honoring some of the Hollywood greats to die in the past year. Among the beloved entertainers honored were Robin Williams, Mickey Rooney, Lauren Bacall, James Garner, Ruby Dee, Mike Nichols, Maya Angelou, Richard Attenborough and Elaine Stritch. Jennifer Hudson sang “I Can’t Let Go” following a montage of the stars we lost this year. Watch the video below.
Among the other members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to have died in the past year: Geoffrey Holder, Louis Jourdan, Polly Bergen, Noel Black, Martin Bresin, Richard Bull, Sid Caesar, Booth Colman, Eli Wallach, Mona Freeman, Gerald Goffin, Bob Hastings, Jimmy Hayes, Nancy Malone, Paul Mazursky, Ed Nelson, Riz Ortolani, Maximilian Schell, Misty Upham, and Gordon Willis.
The “In Memoriam” tribute at the Oscars can be a difficult few minutes in terms of tone and approach, and the segment is often criticized in hindsight for omissions or poor decisions. For instance, Joan Rivers was left out of the tribute this year, leading people to call her the most notable “snub.” What did you think of the Academy Awards “In Memoriam” feature at the 2015 Oscars? Watch the video below, and let us know.
