VIDEO: Patricia Arquette Fires Up Oscars With Acceptance Speech Demanding Equal Rights For Women

Patricia Arquette used her Best Supporting Actress win for Boyhood at Sunday’s Oscars to speak out about equal pay for women. Watch the video below.
After thanking the Motion Picture Academy, the cast and crew of Boyhood, her kids, her parents and siblings, Arquette declared, “To every woman who gave birth, to every taxpayer and citizen of this nation, we have fought for everybody else’s equal rights, it’s our time to have wage equality once and for all, and equal rights for women in the United States of America!”
She walked off the stage to thunderous applause from the entire Oscars audience, including Meryl Streep, who pointed in her direction, as well as from Jennifer Lopez and Ethan Hawke. A slew of fans and famous people took to Twitter immediately after to comment on Arquette’s moment. Audra McDonald, commenting on Arquette’s abrupt finish tweeted, “PATRICIA ARQUETTE!!!!
