Demi Lovato Thanks Senator John Cornyn For Mental Health Meeting (PHOTO)

Demi Lovato is thanking Senator John Cornyn for meeting with her on Capitol Hill to discuss mental health issues. Check out photo and video below.
As Extreme Entertainment has reported, Lovato has become an advocate for the mental health community after her own very public battles with bipolar disorder and other illnesses. She is now spearheading a new initiative called “Be Vocal: Speak up for Mental Health,” which is “encouraging people across America to use their voice in support of mental health.” Lovato took her message to MSNBC for a live interview on Monday, hours before she went to Capitol Hill to call for mental health reform.
She’s lined up two days’ worth of meetings and, on Tuesday morning, spent time with Senator Cornyn, who represents her home state of Texas. The senator shared a photo from their discussion on Twitter, writing, “Congratulations to @ddlovato for using her celebrity to advance the treatment of mental illness.” Lovato replied, “Thank you Senator for taking the time to discuss the importance of mental health care in America.”
Lovato also joked about making fashion sacrifices for the appearance. “I hate it when you have to wear shoes that don’t totally go with your outfit because the ones you love aren’t comfy enough for Capitol Hill,” she tweeted. The singer’s trip to Washington, D.C., was planned to coincide with the National Council for Behavioral Health’s Hill Day.
