Emilia Clarke, Sam Claflin “GMA” Video: Watch “Me Before You” Interview!

Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin opened up about their new movie Me Before You on Tuesday’s “Good Morning America.” Watch below!
In the adaptation of Jojo Moyes’ book, Clarke stars as Lou, a quirky and somewhat lost girl who takes a job caring for the paralyzed Will, played by Claflin. “He basically has everything. He’s a very successful businessman,” the actor said. “He kind of seems to have the life everyone wanted. It kind of changed drastically after a traffic accident.”
When the crash leaves his character a quadriplegic, “he sort of enters a very dark place, until he gets this breath of fresh air into his life,” Claflin explained, referring to Clarke’s Lou. To accurately portray the wheelchair-bound Will, the actor relied heavily on facial expressions and chose to lose about 40 bounds. “What was important for me was the character looked quite frail and quite weak,” he said on “GMA.”
Clarke shared that one of her favorite scenes to film was one in which she’s controlling Will’s motorized wheelchair, which prompted Claflin to reveal, “She nearly killed both of us.” Clarke amusingly added, “And the camera.” And after he admitted to spending one day “sobbing” over the end of the film, the “Game of Thrones” star noted, “I think the heart of it is a really beautiful love story.”
“Don’t take the life that you have for granted,” Clarke said of the film’s message. “Go out there and live it as fully as possible.” Check out the full interview below!
