Jennifer Lawrence appeared on Thursday’s “Good Morning America” alongside X-Men: Apocalypse co-stars James McAvoyOscar Isaacand Sophie Turner to talk about their new superhero sequel. Watch the full interview below!
Lawrence reprises the role of shapeshifting mutant Mystique in the latest installment of the comic book franchise. “The stakes are definitely higher in this one because we’ve never had a villain before that’s straight up about to wipe off the face of the earth,” the actress said about the title character, Apocalypse (Isaac).
Lawrence also revealed that the new sequel sees her character “growing up a little bit more,” explaining, “She’s not so focused on rebelling anymore. She’s more interested in the betterment of the mutants.” And as far as how Isaac was able to portray such a convincing bad guy, the actress joked, “He’s the meanest person I’ve ever met. He dominated the whole set. He terrorized everybody.”
Meanwhile, franchise newcomer Turner, who plays a young Jean Grey, admitted “it was a little daunting” joining the blockbuster series, “but then everyone was so welcoming.” And Isaac noted, “It feels like an X-Men movie that I’ve been waiting for because some things happen that are so classic from the comic books.”
