Muhammad Ali died on Friday, and now celebrities are reacting to the boxing legend’s death. Ali, who was taken to a Phoenix hospital on Thursday with respiratory issues, was 74. See stars’ reactions to the passing of the boxing legend below.
In 1984, Ali was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, a disease that’s often precipitated by head trauma from such activities as boxing. Just three years earlier, Ali retired from boxing. During his illustrious career Ali won an Olympic gold medal and was a three-time heavyweight champion. In 2005, The Greatest, as he was known, received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Ali’s last public appearance was on April 9, 2016 when he attended Phoenix’s 22nd annual Celebrity Fight Night, which benefitted several charities, including the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center.

Drake Bell shared, “Goodbye to the Greatest of All Time!” Donald Trump tweeted, “Muhammad Ali is dead at 74! A truly great champion and a wonderful guy. He will be missed by all!” Andy Cohen simply hashtagged, “#TheGreatest.” “In a year where many greats have passed, the greatest of all has just left us. Goodbye champ. Fly like a butterfly,” added Josh Gad.
Diddy tweeted, “REST IN PRACE GREAT ONE. #RIPALI.” Jenny McCarthy shared a photo of herself with Ali and captioned it, “RIP Muhammad ALI – Champion and hero.” And Johnny Knoxville simply stated, :RIP The Greatest of All Time Muhammad Ali.”
Larry King wrote, “I mourn the passing of #MuhammadAli. He was indeed ‘The Greatest.’ An American legend & a true Champion for the world. #RIPMuhammadAli.” Mike Tyson mourned, “God came for his champion. And in a lengthy Instagram post, Lance Armstrong wrote, “Waking up to a heavy heart hearing about The Champ’s passing. On multiple occasions I was blessed to spend time with Muhammad. He was a true inspiration to myself and billions (yes, billions) of others. This book arrived on my door step one day as a gift from The Champ and Mrs. Ali. It is one of my most prized possessions.
