Chris Rock is NOT engaged to girlfriend Megalyn Echikunwoke, despite a very late and still very wrong tabloid report. Extreme Entertainment can once again bust this claim.
Rock’s divorce from Malaak Compton has yet to be finalized, but according to the National Enquirer, the comedian has already proposed to Echikunwoke, an actress who he’s only been dating for a few months. “They’re soul mates who plan to spend eternity together,” says the magazine’s supposed source. But Extreme Entertainment already debunked this untrue report nearly two weeks ago when MediaTakeOut also falsely alleged that Rock was engaged.
That webloid simply saw photos of Echikunwoke wearing a ring on her finger at last month’s CW upfront, and concocted a fake engagement story around it. And despite the Enquirer regurgitating this tale, Extreme Entertainment was exclusively told by Rock’s rep that he simply “isn’t engaged.” Nothing has changed in the time since, and there’s still no truth to the claim about a nonexistent engagement.
Unfortunately, we’re not particularly surprised that the tabloid go the story wrong. Extreme Entertainment previously busted the Enquirer’s sister publication, Star, for falsely claiming Rock was hooking up with Rosario Dawson. In reality, the two were simply co-starring in a movie together, and not dating off-camera. This latest engagement claim is equally fabricated.
