Hilary Swank has called off her engagement to Ruben Torres, a former professional tennis player whom she began dating nearly a year ago. Extreme Entertainment has reached out to the actress’ rep for a comment.
As Extreme Entertainment reported, Swank announced her engagement to Torres in March with an Instagram photo of a ring, and revealed that her then-fiance had proposed while the two were hiking. But the actress’ engagement ring was nowhere to be seen when she attended the 2016 French Open on Saturday. A spokesperson has now confirmed that she and Torres have ended their plans to get married.
Back in March, Swank showed off her engagement ring on social media, along with the caption, “Went on a hike and this happened! I am so happy to announce the engagement to my dear Ruben.” The actress added the hashtag, “#EngagedSwank.” Swank has since deleted the engagement announcement from her Instagram.
The former couple made their romance public in December 2015 while walking the red carpet together for the first time at a DuJour party for Art Basel in Miami. Swank’s now-canceled nuptials would have marked the actress’ second marriage. She wed actor Chad Lowe in 1997, but the pair divorced in 2007.
