Leana “So You Think You Can Dance” Audition Video: 10-Year-Old Wows With 40-Year-Old Partner

A 10-year-old named Leana wowed on “So You Think You Can Dance” on Monday… with a 40-something partner. Check out the video below.
Season 13, dubbed “The Next Generation,” premiered last week, as Extreme Entertainment reported. Now, during the second episode of auditions, 10-year-old Leana came to show off her ballroom moves. The aspiring star told host Cat Deeley that her partner, however, wouldn’t be officially auditioning because he was “just a little bit over” the age-13 cut-off.
Naturally, Deeley wanted to know just hold old this partner was. “He’s in his 40s,” Leana giggled. She went on to explain that Neal has been her dance instructor for “quite a little bit.”
And together they performed a jive routine that had the judges rapt. In fact, they gave a standing ovation after Leana and Neal’s routine ended with a big dip. “This is what it’s all about right here,” Jason Derulo exclaimed. “It made me want to get up and dance. If it wasn’t inappropriate, I was just gonna hop in.”
Nigel Lythgoe had strong praise for Leana’s teacher, saying, “Let me first of all just congratulate Neal. He has taught you brilliantly.” Nothing was said about the age difference, but that’s something “SYTYCD” viewers will need to get used to this season.
For this “Next Generation” theme, all the young contestants will be paired with older “all stars” from the FOX competition’s prior adult-focused seasons. Check out Leana and Neal’s performance below for a taste of what may be to come.
