Nicolas Cage did NOT stop production on his upcoming movie because he supposedly believed the set was “haunted” and wanted the ghosts removed, despite an absurd tabloid report. Extreme Entertainment can exclusively debunk this claim. We’re told it’s “total nonsense.”
According to the repeatedly discredited National Enquirer, Cage halted filming on the thrillerSouthern Fury because he felt the presence of “evil spirits” in the house where his character lives. A so-called “source” tells the tabloid that the actor “insisted he felt spooked and refused to enter because it was haunted.”
The magazine’s dubious source goes on to allege that Cage “demanded that spirit-chasers purify the spooky old dwelling” with a collection of herbs designed to “release purifying fumes that drive away evil spirits.” The tabloid’s source further claims, in bizarrely unnatural language, “After the ritual, cagey ghostbuster Nic sniffed the air, detected no evil spirits, grinned at grateful producers and barked: Roll ’em!'”
Despite how insanely ludicrous the outlet’s story seems, Extreme Entertainment still checked in with a source close to the situation, who laughed off the tall tale before assuring us it’s “total nonsense.” But we’re not particularly surprised by the tabloid’s bogus claim.
Extreme Entertainment previously corrected the Enquirer’s sister publication, Star, for falsely alleging that the actor had “stalked” former co-star Vanessa Hudgens. In fact, Star was even forced to issue an apology to Cage over the untrue report. The Enquirer should probably also apologize for its phony ghost story.
