Rapper Lil’ Scrappy, who is a star of the TV show Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, has checked into rehab and his attorney has put a sobriety plan in place, RumorFix is reporting exclusively.
The reality star, whose real name is Darryl Richardson, checked in to a facility on Wednesday saying his addiction to marijuana was spiraling out of control.
Scrappy was on probation for a marijuana possession charge when he was accused of failing a drug test. The judge gave him the option of serving the rest of his three years probation in jail or going to rehab — on Wednesday he picked rehab.
“I have a will power that God blessed me with, but I wasn’t able to use it because of my addiction,” he told reporters.
Lil’ Scrappy’s attorney, Mawuli Mel Davis, tells RumorFix, “We are proud of the decision he’s made and we have identified a mentor who will help him with his new life when he has completed the program.”
Rev. Run, who says he’s battle drug addiction, even offered himself up for support for the rapper/reality star.
Lil’ Scrappy is scheduled to be in rehab for 30 days.
