Tattooed Army Veteran To Represent Kansas At Miss America Competition

She has the looks of a beauty queen, but Miss Kansas also has something many other Miss American pageant hopefuls to don’t – serious ink!

But not only does she sport tattoos, Theresa Vail is also a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, an expert markswoman, avid hunter and motorcycle enthusiast.

This one-of-a-kind beauty queen will be competing for the coveted Miss America crown on Sunday night.
The 22-year-old blonde haired, blue eyed stunner is a student at Kansas State University and a member of the Kansas Army National Guard’s Medical Detachment.
Viewers will get a full view of a large printed Serenity Prayer on the right side of her ribs. She wrote on her blog that she suffered bullying and neglect growing up and the Serenity Prayer and her faith helped her through it. So at age 20 she decided to make it permanent on her body.
She also has a shoulder tattoo of the U.S. Army Dental Corps insignia on her left shoulder (she’s training to become an Army dentist).  She’s believed to be the first contestant in the pageant’s history to openly display tattoos.
Oh, and her talent for the competition? Singing opera!
We know who we’re rooting for this Sunday.
