Seth MacFarlane: We Would Never Kill Brian Off 'Family Guy'!

Seth MacFarlane took to Twitter to voice his thoughts on the holiday episode of his hit show Family Guy!

“I mean, you didn’t really think we’d kill off Brian, did you? Jesus, we’d have to be fucking high,” the 40-year-old actor tweeted.

He added, “Oh and hey… thanks for caring so much about the canine Griffin. He is overcome with gratitude.”

In case you didn’t know, the show was getting tons of attention for killing off Brian and replacing him with a new character Vinny.

The episode starts off with the Griffins heading to the mall for the annual Christmas carnival, which they discover has been cancelled. After learning that Lois’ father, Carter, is the one that cancelled the carnival, Peter is determined to have him engage in holiday traditions, such as drinking too much eggnog and feeling guilty after masturbation. However, all Peter really needs to do to change Lois’ mind is tell him that people assume he cancelled the festivities because of his Jewish heritage. “Is that how this is coming off?!” Carter asks. Right after, the carnival is back on.

While sitting on Santa’s lap, Stewie confesses that he really wants Brian back for Christmas. Vinny tries to fill the void left by Brian by studying up on politics and writing a book. After those tactics don’t work, the mutt takes Stewie to the toy store to pick up a distraction. Stewie spots his own face at the outing. He remembers that he traveled to the future to pick up a gadget, he knows that there is a time machine return pad in this other Stewie’s backpack. With that pad, he can use it to save Brian.

Stewie knows that, if he saves Brian, the Griffins probably get another dog and he won’t see Vinny again. “I’m man’s best friend,” Vinny says, “not some stupid baby’s best friend.” Afterwards, Stewie goes back in time to save Brian. On Christmas Day, Brian thanks Stewie for giving him the best present of all, and Stewie responds, “Are we pregnant?”
