Bobbi Kristina Brown’s cousin Jerod Brown has released a tribute song and video in her honor, and claims proceeds from the track will go to charity. Watch below.
As Extreme Entertainment has reported, Jerod, who goes by the name YF Kennedy when performing, has been one of Bobbi Kristina’s most outspoken, and controversial, relatives throughout her medical ordeal. While largely discredited by the 21-year-old’s father Bobby Brown, and even Nick Gordon’s attorney, Jerod continues to speak out about Bobbi Kristina’s situation.
And now he’s doing it in song. In a video directed by Shawn King, what seems to be Bobbi Kristina’s voice is heard before Jerod sings, “Pray for BK/I never thought that it would come to this/Speaking on behalf of my cousin Kris.” The song, which is largely rapped, ends with what may be Bobbi Kristina’s voice saying “I love you.”
While Jerod wrote on Facebook, “All proceeds will be going to Martin Luther King Jr ‘Be A King’ Foundation to assist women/men with mental health issues,” it’s worth noting there isn’t an organization with that exact name. Bobbi Kristina and Jerod’s aunt Leolah Brown, however, offered praise for the video on her Facebook page, writing, “Big Ups to my Nephew Jerod Brown for doing this song for my niece~ his cousin~Bobbi Kristina!!! Krissi is proud of you for this song.”
Among Jerod’s many statements, he falsely alleged Gordon was seeking legal intervention to see Bobbi Kristina, astonishingly insinuated that Pat Houston “murdered” both Bobbi Kristina and Whitney Houston, and most recently defended Gordon, saying he was cooperating with the authorities and being “exploited.” Interestingly, Leolah doesn’t share the same opinion of Gordon that her nephew does.
In a statement criticizing Jerod last month, Bobby Brown said, “Jerod Brown aka Jerod Carter aka YF Kennedy, continues to [make] statements and appear on television, however, he has not had any communication with Bobby Brown or the Houston family. He must be disregarded. Please do not attend any ‘meet and greet’ organized by Jerod Brown as he is unable to provide access to Bobbi Kristina or information on her condition. This is a criminal investigation and we do not need this side show.”
