Kathy Griffin: I Shouldn’t Have Done Fashion Police In The First Place

Kathy Griffin told Howard Stern on Monday that it was probably a mistake for her to join “Fashion Police,” commented on Giuliana Rancic’s controversial joke about Zendaya, and suggested Kelly Osbourne left the show because things just weren’t the same following the death of Joan Rivers. Listen to the interview below.
“I probably shouldn’t have taken the gig,” Griffin told the radio host. “[Rivers] just passed away six months ago.” The comedian explained that Melissa Rivers had reached out to her, saying Griffin was “the only person I feel my mom would have truly given her blessing to.” But things didn’t work out, and Griffin announced her exit last week, saying her comedy wasn’t a good fit for what “Fashion Police” wanted.
Griffin revealed that Lena Dunham helped craft Griffin’s statement explaining why she wanted to leave the show, and talked about why she asked high-profile friends to voice their support in an atmosphere that can often be harsh for outspoken female celebrities. Griffin flatly denied any kind of bad blood with Osbourne, and says the younger former co-host is still “grieving” the death of Rivers, which explains her discomfort with continuing on “Fashion Police” more than any kind of made-up feud. Listen to the interview below, and tell us what you think.
