Riker Lynch of the group R5 rocked to the second highest spot on the “Dancing With the Stars” season 20 premiere. The singer and bassist, who’s actually a cousin of Derek and Julianne Hough, did a spirited jive with dance partner Allison Holker to The Romantics’ “What I Like About You.” (video below).
Following his first routine, Lynch received rave reviews from all four judges. “Riker the rocking rocker,” Bruno Tonioli shouted as he jumped up on to the judges’ table, adding “You’re cool, hip, and your timing is immaculate.” The normally tough Len Goodman noted Lynch’s performance had “lots of energy,” and felt overall it was “well done.” Carrie Ann Inaba exclaimed that Lynch’s jive was “fun and explosive… great job!” And Julianne Hough said she was impressed because “the flips were so tight and so sharp.” She further told Lynch and Holker, “I loved it!”
Well, it wasn’t just the judges who enjoyed Lynch’s dance. The seemingly hundreds of young girls in the audience were on their feet and cheering for the young, blond rocker. So, how did he do? Lynch and Holker had the evening’s second highest score with a total of 31 out of 40.
