What if Will Ferrell starred in Ride Along and “The Real Husbands of Hollywood”? What would it be like if Kevin Hart was cast in Elf, Anchorman, and Talladega Nights? Well, all of that almost happened, at least according to a new Funny or Die video. Watch below!
While Ferrell and Hart appear together for the first time in the upcoming movie Get Hard, as it turns out, the two actor-comedians were actually up for the very same parts in other films before this. To prove it, Ferrell and Hart revealed their old audition tapes.
So, why didn’t Hart get Ferrell’s role in Anchorman? Apparently he had a bit of trouble saying “mahogany.” And why did Ferrell bother auditioning to play “Kevin Hart” in “The Real Husbands of Hollywood”? “It didn’t feel like a real name,” he explained. It was also revealed Ferrell tried his hand at Hart’s autobiographical standup routine, because they were “all of our stories.”
Movies aside, Ferrell and Hart have been spending a lot of time together. As Extreme Entertainment reported, last week Hart competed in Ferrell’s annual charity tennis match, and both participated in Justin Bieber’s roast this past weekend. Ferrell actually showed up as hisAnchorman character Ron Burgundy. Oh, what might have been if Hart won the role!
