Kimberly Nichole “What’s Up” The Voice Video: Breaks Down After Standing Ovation For Incredible Performance During Playoffs

Kimberly Nichole broke down after receiving a rousing standing ovation from all the coaches for her performance of “What’s Up” during “The Voice” season 8 live playoffs on Tuesday. Check out the video below!
As Extreme Entertainment reported, the live playoffs kicked off on Monday with half of the Top 20, the contestants on Team Pharrell and Team Blake Shelton, taking on the stage. Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine’s combined 10 artists were in the spotlight on the second installment, performing live for the first time this season. The pressure was on, but you wouldn’t know it from Nichole’s flawless, fearless performance.
The singer, an Aguilera artist, took on the 1990s’ Linda Perry track with her 91-year-old grandmother watching in the audience. Nichole was teary-eyed throughout the intense performance, and Pharrell came to his feet before she was even close to finished. When she was, Aguilera, Shelton, and Levine joined the ovation. Nichole then began full-on crying at the reaction, and her grandmother appeared to be in tears, too.
Pharrell, from whom Aguilera actually stole Nichole earlier this season, declared, “Perfection. Perfection because of the incredible depth of soul you have in your voice and your personality.” He continued to gush, “It was unbelievable. That was perfection. America should be voting for you right now.”
“Unbelievable” was a recurring comment, with Levine and Shelton using the word as well. The Maroon 5 front man said, “Man, Kimberly, that was crazy… You were amazing.” He then told the audience, “And just to let you guys know, that’s a really, REALLY hard song to sing, and she destroyed it. Like unbelievable.” And Shelton said, “I know I’m just on the sidelines tonight but just watching this competition go down, because of you, Team Christina just lapped Team Adam… Unbelievable. That was unbelievable.”
Aguilera told Nichole, “You’re such an amazing unique person and spirit, and I’m so happy you had this moment. I found with this song that you centered yourself.” This marks the first round in which the singers are competing for viewers’ votes, but after a performance like this, it should not be an issue for Nichole.
