Kim Zolciak: I Have A “Hole In My Heart”

Kim Zolciak says she has a hole in her heart that was only discovered because of her mini stroke. Watch below.
As Extreme Entertainment reported, Zolciak was forced to withdraw from “Dancing with the Stars” last month due to the timing of her health crisis. Now, for a Thursday appearance on “Good Morning America,” Zolciak flew for the first time since her medical emergency. She said she’s now feeling “great,” and confessed that her stroke ended up being a “blessing in disguise.”
Zolciak explained, “The minor TIA [mini stroke] revealed that I have a PFO [patent foramen ovale], which is like a hole in your heart that I was born with that never closed.” The reality star said the hole “basically” caused her stroke, noting her blood clot “was able to cross over through the hole, whereas most people don’t have that and it’s not able to do that.” But what about those who still believe Zolciak is faking the whole thing?
“I just think it’s sick that somebody would ever think that,” she said. “And some of the people who have said that, it shows me their mentality. I don’t think that many people would really fake a stroke. Especially [since] I love ‘Dancing with the Stars.'”
In fact, Zolciak admitted it’s been “very difficult” to be missing out on the ABC ballroom competition, and reiterated her stance that it was unfair she was forcibly eliminated, because while she was given medical clearance to dance, she just couldn’t fly. “I feel like they could’ve done something via satellite,” she said. “They’ve made exceptions in the past for people that couldn’t dance at the actual show, who got injured in a rehearsal.”
Zolciak claimed she was never given a reason why others were able to continue despite being unable to dance live and she wasn’t. “The producers, the casting directors, they all kind of fought for me. But when it came down to it, it was the lawyers that made the final decision,” she said. Now Zolciak is just looking forward to returning for the season finale. Check out the full interview below, and tell us what you think.
