One Direction is NOT splitting, despite a new report. Extreme Entertainment can exclusively debunk the claim. A rep for the group tells us the story has no merit.
According to Us Weekly, One Direction’s current hiatus will “become a permanent break.” The magazine quotes a so-called “source” as saying the band has chosen “not to renew their recording contract.” The alleged tipster adds, “The 1D thing just ran its course. They’ll remain friends, but they are exhausted and want solo careers.”
Of course, there’s nothing precluding Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, and Niall Horan from pursuing solo efforts over the next 18 months. And while things could certainly change over the next year and a half, the guys have been adamant about getting back together for new music. So this seems to be a break, but not a break up.
Asked about the veracity of Us Weekly’s split report, a rep for One Direction exclusively tells us the allegation is “not true.”
