Ginger Zee Injured Before “Dancing With The Stars” Finale

Ginger Zee has suffered an injury that could potentially keep her from competing in Monday’s “Dancing with the Stars” finale.
During rehearsals for the finals, the “GMA” weather anchor injured her pelvis. That in turn has been causing back spasms that make it difficult to move, let alone dance. She was unable to participate in camera blocking on Sunday, leading “DWTS” troupe member Jenna Johnson to step in in her place with pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy.
Zee is hopeful, however, to have enough improvement by show time tomorrow night. She is working with an on-set physical therapist, as well as the show’s medical team, in hopes of being able to perform during the two-part finals. The first part will go down on Monday’s broadcast, with the second part of the finale set for Tuesday.
Zee and Chmerkovskiy are competing against Nyle DiMarco & Peta Murgatroyd and Paige VanZant & Mark Ballas for the Mirror Ball. As Extreme Entertainment reported, the meteorologist was called “superb” during last week’s “Dancing with the Stars” semifinals, which had her doing an “intense” trio dance with Artem Chigvintsev. Now for the finals, she was expected to do a jazz “redemption” dance, as well as a freestyle set to a Nat King Cole song.
