Paige VanZant has been cast in the upcoming movie, Kickboxer: Retaliation, which marks the UFC fighter and “Dancing with the Stars” finalist’s big screen debut.
For her first foray into film, VanZant will play a 26-year-old named Gamon, who’s a fighter with exceptional combat skills and is also an expert when it comes to handling a gun. The role was specifically written for VanZant after the film’s creative team saw her on “Dancing With The Stars.” The movie’s producer, Rob Hickman said on Monday, “Paige is the up and coming darling of the UFC and her star quality shines through on camera.” He added, “She’s a tremendous asset to the film both as an onscreen talent and as a trainer fighter.”
This movie is the latest in the Jean-Claude Van Damme-starring Kickboxer films, which began in 1989. The project, which has already begun shooting, also stars Van Damme, Gina Carano and Dave Bautista. VanZant’s Kickboxer: Retaliation is said to be a sequel to Kickboxer: Vengeance, slated for release in August.
