Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are getting divorced. That might lead people to think the tabloids got it right. WRONG! Extreme Entertainment can explain how years of tabloid stories about a Brangelina split are still incorrect, and why the breakup was NOT for the reasons magazines have speculated about for a decade.
As Extreme Entertainment reported, Jolie is divorcing Pitt after more than 10 years together and two years of marriage. Virtually since their relationship began in mid-2000, the tabloids have been banking on a breakup. There has been, quite literally, hundreds of untrue stories over the years about a split. And even articles published in recent months remain false.
That’s because while Pitt and Jolie may indeed now be getting divorced, it’s NOT for the reasons those gossip magazines claimed. Here are just some recent examples from two tabloids…
In Touch: For last week’s cover story, the outlet said Jolie and Pitt were to divorce over cheating and jealousy accusations, along with concerns about the actress’ health. In late August, the tabloid said Pitt had “dumped” Jolie. Earlier that month, a cover story falsely alleged Jolie had “caught” Pitt (talking on the phone) with ex-wife Jennifer Aniston (see photo above). That was after a previous article said they were adopting an African child.
National Enquirer: Just last week, the supermarket tabloid made up a ridiculous story about Jolie catching Pitt saying ex Gwyneth Paltrow’s name in his sleep. In July, it was said Pitt was hooking up with Aniston behind Jolie’s back. That was after a previous story said they were planning a vow renewal ceremony… to be done in the nude.
There were similar tales from Celeb Dirty Laundry, RadarOnline, OK!, Life & Style, Star and the like. Among the other allegations was that the spouses were to divorce over Pitt’s Alliedco-star Marion Cotillard, financial issues, and Pitt’s supposed anger with Jolie not taking care of herself.
But none of these split stories were truly accurate, because none of the reasons behind them are accurate. Pitt didn’t leave Jolie, her health is not to blame, and there was no cheating going on. The magazines, as they have for years, simply made up what they thought could be issues, guessing again and again that Pitt and Jolie would divorce. It’s now true Jolie and Pitt are getting divorced, but the years of tabloid cover stories, filled with guesswork, remain false.
