Brad Pitt says he is “saddened” by his divorce from Angelina Jolie. See statement below.
As Extreme Entertainment reported, Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt on Monday after two years of marriage. The couple had been together for more than 10 years, and have six children together. In her petition, Jolie cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.
Pitt now says in a statement, “I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the wellbeing of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”
Jolie has not personally spoken out. As Extreme Entertainment noted earlier, an attorney for the actress said in a statement, “This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time.”
Jolie’s divorce papers indicate she is seeking sole physical custody of their kids, with Pitt getting visitation and sharing legal custody. It’s been said she was moved to file for divorce out of concern over the actor’s parenting methods and anger issues, as well as his alleged use of weed and alcohol.
