Is Kris Jenner angling for a weight loss endorsement deal? That’s the claim in one of this week’s tabloids. But Extreme Entertainment can reveal how it’s both late and wrong.
It’s alleged in the new issue of In Touch that Jenner is “desperate for a weight-loss deal.” According to the magazine, she’s “hoping she can drop the pounds — while expanding her wallet.” A so-called “insider” is quoted as saying, “She’s been reaching out to Weight Watchers, Atkins and Jenny Craig in hopes of getting a deal.”
But the story goes on to claim Jenner is “having a difficult time nabbing a contract because the image-obsessed momager wants to say she is 20 pounds heavier than she actually is, so she’ll look successful even if the diet fails.” The alleged tipster says, “The diet companies aren’t interested right now. Not only are there laws that prevent false advertising, but they just don’t think women can relate to her.”
This, however, is a typical tabloid trick. The magazines make a claim that they know is false (Jenner wanting a weight loss deal) but provide a built-in excuse for why it won’t happen (companies don’t want her), so they’re covered when the allegation never pans out. It allows outlets to seemingly get away with their lies.
But Extreme Entertainment is all about holding tabloids accountable. A rep for Jenner confirms exclusively to Extreme Entertainment that Jenner is NOT seeking any such endorsement. But we already knew that.
OK! tried peddling a similar story back in June, actually claiming Jenner was purposefully gaining weight to then get a weight loss deal. But it wasn’t true a few months ago, and it still isn’t true now. In Touch is late and wrong.
