Johnson appeared on the morning talk show via satellite from Honolulu, where he’s currently filming the upcomingJumanji reboot. The busy actor was on hand to premiere the new trailer for his new animated Disney movie, Moana, in which he voices the the legendary Hawaiian demi-god Maui. But first, Johnson and two fire-twirling natives performed a tribal routine. “We have completely woken up the entire state of Hawaii,” the former wrestler joked after the dance. “Honolulu is on its feet now.”
Johnson went on to express his gratitude to get to make a big blockbuster movie in Hawaii, where he spent much of his childhood. “Just to be able to come back and bring a movie of this size and magnitude to Hawaii, the jobs that it creates for all the hard-working locals, it’s such a cool thing,” he noted. Jumanji co-stars Kevin Hart and Jack Black, both of whom are also filming on location with Johnson.
