Allison Williams Defends Her Father Brian Williams

Allison Williams has defended her father Brian Williams.

Girls star Allison described her father Brian as ‘a truthful man.’

The former NBC Nightly News anchor has been suspended for six months without pay for lying about his time in Iraq.

However, his 26-year-old actress daughter has now gone public about the scandal and backed her dad.

Speaking at a Q and A session in New York to discuss her career with late night host Seth Myers the attractive actress spoke for the first time about the scandal that has engulfed her family.

She told Myers: “One thing the experience has not done is shake my trust and belief in him as a man.
“He’s a really good man. He’s an honest man. He’s a truthful man. He has so much integrity. He cares so much about journalism.”

But she did admit that all the public scrutiny had been really hard on both her, their family and especially her father
She said:  “We have also been very lucky, counting our blessings. We have our health. We have each other. It’s been incredible to experience the outreach from people you love, family, friends, and then people we don’t even know, strangers, just reaching out saying we want him back on TV.”
“It’s been tough, though. Obviously, toughest on my dad, who bears the full burden of responsibility for it.”

And as critics ponder if Williams, 55, will in fact ever return to the anchor seat as viewers may no longer trust him — his daughter once again vouched for his credentials as a father.

She added: “And yes, he’s a really good dad — I know you can trust him because, as any good daughter does, I’ve tested him on that.”

Before being suspended Brian Williams publicly acknowledged that he had made false claims about his coverage of the Iraq War and whether he had come under fire as a reporter in 2003.
