One of the big mysteries of 2015 is: “Why didn’t Dustin Diamond go to the Saved By The Bell Reunion?”
Dustin, who played Samuel “Screech” Powers on the popular ’90s sitcom, was missing when Mario Lopez, Elizabeth Berkley, Tiffani Thiessen and Mark-Paul Gosselaar reunited in February on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
At the time his attorney said Dustin had “prior commitments,” but now Screech is coming clean. He tells Fox 6 Now he wasn’t even invited. Ouch!
“It would have been fun, but I don’t see it as a personal insult,” Dustin says. The actor has had a less than stellar career unlike his co-stars. Among his regrets is starring in a sex tape that he claims had a stunt penis and appearing as a jerk on Celebrity Fit Club. And most recently Dustin allegedly got into a bar fight in Wisconsin on Christmas. He recently pleaded not guilty to felony and misdemeanor charges.
Even Screech’s absence on the reunion was overshadowed by Lark Voorhies, who played Lisa Turtle, who also missed the reunion. Lark’s appearance has changed dramatically making fans wonder “What happened?” Her rep, said “Lark would have loved to be part of the Jimmy Fallon skit (as she is a big fan of the show), however due to an intense work schedule she was not available.”
We now know the reunion was six years in the making, Extra’s Mario Lopez says he was approached then about it, but it was difficult to make happen because Jimmy Fallon shoots in New York and most of the cast is in LA.
So when Jimmy brought the show to LA for February sweeps there were no more excuses and the rest –as they say — is history.
