Elton John gave a powerful performance of “A Good Heart” on Thursday’s 2016 “Red Nose Day Special.” Check out the video below!
Though Red Nose Day is only in its second year in the United States, John is a longtime supporter of the campaign, which began in the U.K. 25 years ago. Started by writer-director Richard Curtis, the organization uses the power of celebrities to draw attention to children in need across the world. In past years, John has provided entertainment for the Red Nose Day specials held in his native England, and has used his Elton John AIDS Foundation to assist the Red Nose Day Fund in aiding kids in Africa who have lost parents to the disease.
For the NBC broadcast, Blake Shelton and Paul Shaffer, with the “Red Nose Orchestra,” also provided musical performances. For John, it was his second TV appearance in as many weeks, although under different circumstances. The music legend was featured on last week’s “Nashville,” during which he performed his song “Blue Wonderful” with one of the show’s stars, Sam Palladio.
“Blue Wonderful” and “A Good Heart” are both from John’s most recent album, Wonderful Crazy Night. As Extreme Entertainment reported, the British icon played a selection of the new tracks, and a number of classic ones, during a pop-up concert on the Sunset Strip back in February.
