10-year-old Lev and his even younger partner wowed during the “So You Think You Can Dance” season premiere on Monday. Check out the video below!
The 13th season is all about “The Next Generation” of dancers, those aged 8 to 13 who have already mastered the craft of dancing. Among the kids auditioning in Los Angeles was 10-year-old Lev. While he brought along his partner Sophia, she was too young to be one of the official contestants.
Together they did a routine to “Uptown Funk” that led to a standing ovation from the panel. Nigel Lythgoe told Lev afterward, “You are the first young ballroom dancer that I’ve seen that I’ve actually enjoyed the expressions on their face because you have so much joy in your face. It really came across.” Lev amusingly said that’s because he’s been dancing for five years now.
Jason Derulo then admitted, “I’ve never seen a little person dance like that,” a sentiment he went on to repeat. And Paula Abdul told Lev, “You are one of a kind here. You can tell you love what you do.” Now he’ll go on to the FOX competition’s new Dance Academy… but without Sophia. Watch Lev’s audition below!
