Johnny Depp is no wife beater, says Vanessa Paradis, with whom the actor had a 14-year relationship and two children. She calls Amber Heard’s domestic violence allegations “outrageous,” and swears that he had “never been physically abusive” to her throughout their long-term relationship.
In a letter written on May 27, and curiously obtained by TMZ, Paradis calls Depp “a sensitive, loving and loved person.” She goes on to write, “I believe with all my heart, that these recent allegations being made are outrageous.” Paradis adds, “In all the years I have known Johnny, he has never been physically abusive with me and this looks nothing like the man I lived with for 14 wonderful years.”
It should be noted, Paradis could arguably have had an axe to grind with Depp since their romance ended in 2012, and he took up with Heard that same year. But instead, Paradis is supporting Depp who, as Extreme Entertainment reported, was accused by Heard of verbal and physical abuse during their brief 15-month marriage. As we also noted, Heard, who filed for divorce last Monday, was granted a temporary restraining order after alleging Depp threw an iPhone at her face, leaving her bruised.
Over the past few days, Extreme Entertainment has reported a number of stars have voiced their support for either Depp or Heard. On Saturday, Paul Bettany, who starred with Depp inMortdecai, The Tourist, and Transcendence, tweeted, “Known Johnny Depp for years and through several relationships. He’s the sweetest, kindest, gentlest man that I’ve ever known. Just saying.” Mickey Rourke defended Depp, saying on Friday that his friend is “not a violent guy.” Meanwhile, Rainn Wilson tweeted on Friday that Depp is a “wife beater.”
