Is there a “prenup battle” between Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton? That’s the claim from one of the tabloid magazines. Extreme Entertainment investigated the story as soon as it hit newsstands on Wednesday, and here’s what we’ve learned.
OK! writes in its new issue, “When it comes to their future, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are all business.” It’s specifically said that in the wake of her “devastating divorce” from Gavin Rossdale, Stefani is “determined to protect herself — and her $100 million fortune — no matter how smitten she may be.” And so, the story goes on to claim that “before Gwen agrees to marry Blake, she’s insisting on a prenup which states that ‘they’ll keep whatever they went into the marriage with, and any projects they do together will be evenly split.'”
But that’s not all. “She also wants a so-called ‘cheating penalty’ — to the tune of $3 million,” writes OK!. So, how does Shelton feel about Stefani’s prenup plans? “He was taken aback,” alleges a so-called “insider,” who explains, “He felt like it would jinx their relationship and was offended that she’d think he’s the kind of guy who would take her money.”
That said, the tabloid notes, “Eventually, though, he came around — especially since the couple are rumored to be expecting a baby.” Adds the supposed source, “Blake knows Gwen has been through a lot, so he’s fine with signing a prenup if it makes her happy. They want to get this out of the way so they can concentrate on the exciting times ahead.”
So why, then, did OK! headline its story “Gwen & Blake’s Prenup Battle”? Because the tabloid likes sensationalizing its made-up articles. For heaven’s sake, this is the same outlet that said Stefani was “pregnant with twins” in January, but now writes she’s just “rumored to be expecting a baby.”
That’s the kind of accuracy level we’re dealing with here. So it was no surprise when Extreme Entertainment spoke with Stefani’s rep today, and we were exclusively told this new prepnup story is “B.S.” And, by the way, Stefani even said herself in a new radio interview this week that an engagement isn’t on the horizon.
