Nick Jonas performed “Close” at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday. He was joined on stage by Tove Lo. Watch the video below!
“Close” was the first single off Jonas’s upcoming album, Last Year Was Complicated, which is set to be released on June 10. He previously performed with the song with Tove Lo last month when he was the musical guest on “Saturday Night Live.” To date, the single has reached number 26 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and number 15 on its Mainstream Top 40 charts.
The “Close” music video, which was released in late March, begins with Jonas and Tove Lo sitting opposite one another in chairs in an empty warehouse. Corresponding to them singing about the difficulties of opening oneself up to another, their chairs get pulled away from each other by an unknown force. While that’s happening, though, the force rips away at their clothes, and so they become more exposed in their underwear, as well as emotionally, allowing them to get closer and touch.
Jonas is no stranger to the BBMAs. Last year, he performed his hit “Jealous.” After this year’s Billboard Music Awards, he and Demi Lovato will kick off their Future Now tour in Atlanta at the end of June.
