Wendy Williams Defends Iggy Azalea: Haters Dislike Her Because She Has “Black Girl’s Butt And Black Boyfriend” (VIDEO)

Iggy Azalea has Wendy Williams in her corner. The opinionated talk show host defended the outspoken rapper on Wednesday’s episode of “The Wendy Williams Show,” hours before a fed-up Azalea quit social media. Watch below.
As Extreme Entertainment has reported, Azalea has become a frequent target of criticism from the media and public alike, with the Australia-born star being accused of misappropriating black culture to further her career. She’s engaged in a number of Twitter feuds with fellow celebrities, and was subjected to hate earlier this week when bathing suit photos taken by paparazzi during a recent vacation with boyfriend Nick Young were mocked because the music star appeared to have cellulite.
Williams has now come to Azalea’s defense, declaring during her Hot Topics segment, “Would guys stop with the Iggy Azalea?! How much hate do you guys have?!” The TV personality said she saw “nothing wrong” with Azalea’s bikini pics, arguing that most women have cellulite, and then sharing what she perceived to be the real issue.
“I know who the haters are,” Williams said, pointing to her hand. “My people. It seems like black people don’t want this girl to win because she’s white.” Williams went on to suggest that black people are turned off by Azalea being a white, Australian rapper with an accent, who partnered up with T.I., one of hip-hop’s biggest names, and managed to conquer both hip-hop and top 40 radio.
Williams said, “You’re a hater because she’s crossed over and she’s managed to make it. You’re a hater because she got herself what looks like a black girl’s butt and a black boyfriend, Nick Young. You need to stop that hate and get a life, haters.” Williams made clear she had nothing to gain by defending Azalea, noting that they’ve never even met, but said she was trying to discourage people from “hating across the board.”
It’s unlikely Azalea will respond publicly to Williams’ sympathy, since, as Extreme Entertainment reported, she announced a break from social media late Thursday, in part due to the hate she received over the swimsuit photos. Watch Williams’ comments below at the 6:28 mark. What do you think?
