Kim and Khloe Kardashian arrived in Armenia on Wednesday for their first visit to the country of their ancestors. As Extreme Entertainment has reported, the sisters are Armenian through their late father Robert Kardashian, Jr., and have long expressed an interest in the culture. Khloe and Kim, accompanied by Kanye West and their daughter North, timed their trip with the upcoming 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide. Hundreds of fans greeted the group upon their arrival in Yerevan, the country’s capital, with Khloe calling “the love and welcoming” they received “overwhelmingly beautiful.” “I wholeheartedly can’t believe all of you Angels who are outside our hotel with flowers and smiles,” she posted on Instagram Wednesday evening. “I’m incredibly eager to get some sleep and see Armenia in the day light! I hope I’m able to sleep. I’m so excited to be here!!”
For her part, Kim took to Instagram to exclaim, “Armenia we are here!!!!!” The reality star went on, “We are so grateful to be here & start this journey of a lifetime! Thank you to everyone who greeted us! I can’t wait to explore our country and have some yummy food!” She even added the hashtag, “#MyDadAndGrandParentsWouldBeSoProud.”
Like Khloe, Kim was too excited to sleep, and explained that West, North, and some of their cousins came with them in order to “see my heritage and learn about my ancestors.” The sightseeing began in earnest on Thursday, with the family visiting the Mother Armenia statue in Yerevan. “The Mother Armenia statue symbolizes peace through strength,” Khloe explained on Instagram.
“It can remind viewers of some of the prominent female figures in Armenian history. Who took up arms to help their husbands in their clashes with Turkish troops and Kurdish irregulars,” she continued. “I am woman hear me roar!
