Niall Horan revealed on Tuesday that he’s been harassed by a group of supposed “fans,” who have been leaving tons of “abusive” messages on his phone for the past two weeks. The One Direction singer did not say what prompted him to finally lash out on Twitter, but he told his fans he can handle it since he’s a “laid back person,” but wanted to draw attention to this bullying because it’s “happening to others.”
In a series of tweets, Horan noted, “For the last two weeks I’ve been receiving messages off a group of fans, they have drowned my phone in messages, keeping me awake at night.” He continued, “But the worst part is. They have been nothing but abusive. Saying things you wouldn’t even believe about me and my family.”
While Horan didn’t mention specifically what’s been left on his phone, he did reveal that the supposed fans have been “saying the worst things ever about my little nephew,” an adorable 2-year-old named Theo, who the singer completely adores. “Thank god I’m not the kind of person who thinks into stuff like this,” added Horan.
The hashtag #RespectNiall quickly began to trend after Horan further tweeted, “I just think it’s crazy how we let people away with things like this… And the sad thing is . As I tweet this they are in the group chat laughing at me.” But as his fans began to rally around him, Horan assured them on Twitter, “Don’t worry about me .im the most carefree , laid back person around. But I’m just signalling it, because this shite is happening to others.”
